Sharuben Jonathan Hazel a.k.a. Mr. Hazel was born in December 1987 in Amsterdam. Being the oldest of 3 sons he grew up with his parents in a family of 5 in Amsterdam.
With his father born in Curacao and his mother in Bonaire (the Dutch Antilles), Mr. Hazel was taught all the finer Carribean things in life. Artists like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Notorious B.I.G and Tupac Shakur were routinely put on play. Besides these classics, true Island legends such as Kassav, Doble R and Era inspired Mr. Hazel to stay true to himself as an artist.
Mr. Hazel’s music is a combination of local Antillian music such as Zouk, Kompa and Ritmo Combina combined with influences from the West Indies. Mr. Hazel is an all-round artist that also writes his own lyrics and music.
This year, 2016, holds a lot of big events in store. Expect Mr. Hazel’s EP release in April of this year, produced by the well-known producer Mena$a. The singles “Imposibel” and “Legumai” of the EP are on radio with both of there videoclips out now.
